Looking for Father’s Day gift ideas, I came across a website selling items that I knew my husband could use. Dollar Shave Club sells hair products, shaving products and more, while using a subscription model to keep men constantly looking their best. My husband was long overdue for a new set of razors. Luckily, the company was willing to send him one of each item on their website. The company even agreed to give away a box similar to the one I received as well as a $25 gift card to their company. To write a review of the company’s items, I tried out everything that you can buy on their website, including a full set of hair care products from Boogie’s. The hair care items were Boogie’s Bold Hair Gel, Boogie’s Casual Hair Clay, Boogie’s Smart Hair Paste, Boogie’s True Hair Fiber, and Boogie’s Dream Hair Cream. Since my husband usually uses pomade, the items were very useful for him. The paste, clay and fiber all created texture to make shorter hair have a styled look. Although my husband had previously tried products meant to create texture, the hair cream was new to him. He liked that it had a lightweight look, which was good for casual occasions and didn’t mess up his pillowcase with residue at night.

Another group of items that were a huge hit were the shaving products by Dr. Carver. I received Dr. Carver’s Easy Shave Butter, Dr. Carver’s Magnanimous Post Shave Moisturizer, and Dr. Carver’s Miracle Repair Serum. My husband appreciated the wide range of shaving products. He hadn’t previously tried a repair serum, but he really liked the result he had when using it. The shave butter was also very nice and helped prevent irritation.

The coolest feature of Dollar Shave Club is that men can receive blades monthly to go with one of the company’s razors. There are three choices of razors. I received all three. The Humble Twin is the least expensive. Looking at The Humble Twin razor, I could tell that it was the most affordable because the material it was made out of didn’t feel as sturdy. Another item was the 4X razor, which was slightly higher quality, as well as the Executive razor. Although refill blades for the Executive razor are the most expensive, they were the best quality.

Having refills sent monthly would be really useful for guys who use new blades weekly. Receiving refills can be a good reminder not to use dull blades. When blades begin to get dull, it’s a great time to use a new blade, but sometimes guys can put off the new purchase to save money or to save time. Purchasing a subscription to Dollar Shave Club would be a thoughtful gift because it encourages men to use new blades, which is especially key to men who shave regularly.

    I’d give this to my 17 year old son! He’s not shaving yet, but he will be eventually 🙂 He does have moustache hair and wishes he could grow a beard. I tell him be patient and don’t grow up too fast!! These seem really great.

    This is very informative. I knew about the dollar shave club but I think my preconceived notion of what it was and what it really is are very different.
