In March when Georgiana turned three years old, her big present was to go to a movie theater for the first time. She was thrilled to see the movie Zootopia while eating her favorite snacks and watching the big screen. When I learned that the Blu-ray/DVD was about to be released, I was super excited. This movie created a special memory for our family, so I was excited to be one of the first people to own the Blu-ray. Another awesome part of this experience was that TOMY sent my kids two toys – Judy’s Police Cruiser and the talking plush Officer Judy Hopps. We had the most fun! Check out how we made movie night a special event, and enter my giveaway to win two Zootopia toys!

Zootopia Movie Night

Every time we have a movie night in the Pickett household, we make a big event of it. Dad usually prints up a movie poster with prices for the tickets, the popcorn, and the candy. This time, we added a price to own the Blu-ray and for a toy. Both of my daughters do housework during the day of the movie in order to earn admission and treats. We’ve done this for about six movies now, and we always have the best time. My girls know that on these special movie night occasions, mom and dad will close their computers, silence their phones, and join in eating delicious snacks, just as we would in a real movie theater. To encourage the girls to do their chores, I showed them the awesome items that would make this a more special movie event than we usually have.

Zootopia Movie Night & Giveaway! Found on www.theresasreviews.comHere’s a description of the Zootopia movie. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes a comedy-adventure set in the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia.  Determined to prove herself, Officer Judy Hopps, the first bunny on Zootopia’s police force, jumps at the chance to crack her first case – even if it means partnering with scam-artist fox Nick Wilde to solve the mystery.

Samantha and Georgiana were super excited about their toys. When Samantha saw the car, she was immediately drawn to it. I was happy that Georgiana loved the talking plush toy so there was no argument about who got which toy. Seeing the toys early in the day made both of the girls eager to get to work around the house. They couldn’t stop peering in the box where the toys were.

Offering a reward for cleaning the house works well every time. Since my daughters are not the type to stay super organized all the time, they usually create messes right after cleaning. It was nice to teach them the value of cleaning up after themselves. Both girls earned the right amount of play money to attend the Pickett household premier of the Zootopia movie! They dressed up nice for the occasion and ceremoniously walked down the stairs to pay the fee to attend the movie. Check out Samantha’s grin. She loves being a part of this fun tradition in our home.

I opened up the toys for the girls. The plush officer Judy toy was super cute, and it made the most inspiring comments when I squeezed it. Georgiana loved holding on to it. I thought the size was nice because it fit nicely in her arms. Having a keepsake of this movie was really special since it was the first movie Georgiana saw in the movie theater. It was very special to have a memento from that important event in her life.

The toys inside the car were adorable. The small figure was about an inch tall. Judy was around two inches tall. I liked that her arms and legs moved so you could place her inside the car. Samantha had so much fun pretending that Judy was arresting criminals. These toys are incredibly cute, and they are such a nice reminder of how fun the movie is too. This is one of the few children’s movies that came out this year that I genuinely enjoyed watching.

Georgiana didn’t want to separate from her plush Judy toy throughout the movie. Check out how nicely it fit in her arms! It was just the right size for a three year old. She’s at an age when talking toys really appeal to her, so she was instantly drawn to this toy. I love it too. The toy is pretty quiet, and it only says short sentences. Sometimes talking toys can be an annoyance in the home, but this toy was great.

We all had the best time watching the movie for our second time. Samantha had initially been concerned that she would get bored since she already knew the plot. She was not bored at all, though! She had forgotten some of the plot twists, so she was even more focused on finding out how the plot would unfold. I snapped a photo before I put away my electronics and got into the movie’s plot too.

If you haven’t seen Zootopia yet, I absolutely recommend it. I love the overall theme of acceptance and understanding. Even though the animals don’t get along all the time, they figure out how to make things right in the end. The characters who show selfishness and greediness have punishments for their bad behavior. Judy, who experiences a lot of character growth, is rewarded with new friends and opportunities for her thoughtfulness and strong sense of ethics.

In the beginning, Judy is unsure of how her grown-up rabbit life is going to turn out because like many adults out on their own for their first time, things don’t work out her way. She has big dreams, but nothing seems to come through for her. She wants to change the world and conquer the stereotype that bunnies can’t be police officers, but she is challenged by no one believing in her. I liked pointing out to my daughter that Judy still did an amazing job, even when she wasn’t doing the job she wanted to do.

My favorite childhood movie was perhaps The Lion King. I have literally a thousand favorite movies but I think I have watched Lion King the most and can still enjoy it today equally. I even used to love its video game on my PlayStation 1!

I loved this movie so so much. It really changed my mind about animated films. I’m a movie nerd, but animated stuff usually isn’t what I’m into. I took my daughter to see this as well and she absolutely loved it. We all left the theater singing along to the Shakira song at the end. I still get happy every time I hear it. 🙂

My 3 year old daughter LOVES every single Disney princess movie. Lately she’s been watching The Little Mermaid and Aladdin a lot. We watched Zootopia but the part where they put the muzzle on the fox scared her and she isn’t ready to watch it again yet 🙁

The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorite Disney movies! Such great songs in that movie. That’s super sad that your daughter was so frightened by the muzzle! It was a really sad part.
