If you are looking for a family friendly holiday vacation, Nashville, Tennessee has highly regarded entertainment as well as festive, seasonal events. Whether you want to explore downtown Nashville, catch a show, or see beautiful holiday lights, there is something for everyone in Music City. Since Nashville is my hometown, I have several fun holiday travel ideas if you are in the area.

Fun Nashville Holiday Travel Ideas

When you are spending the holidays in Nashville, one tool you can use to discover fun places to go is Groupon Things To Do. The best part about Groupon is that you can check out events, kids activities, concerts and more, all while saving money. All three of events I am recommending can be found on the website, and more.

1. Nashville Walking Tour

Downtown Nashville is an incredible place at any time of year. From spotting the Batman building to checking out live music at Tootsies World Famous Orchid Lounge, the downtown area has much to offer. With a walking tour, you can learn about the area from an expert guide.

If you take a walking tour on the first day of your trip, you can get a good idea of where you would want to come back and visit in the following days. The downtown area has Christmas events, but if you are unfamiliar with the area, it can be overwhelming to navigate. Groupon makes learning a new city easier. With its recommended walking tours, you can feel comfortable returning downtown without a guide.

You may want to spend time downtown at specific Christmas events. At night, after the Nashville Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, the area looks very festive. At the ceremony, the mayor lights the tree on the Public Square. For entertainment, the Nashville Christmas Parade will happen downtown on Saturday December 3rd, and Kelly Clarkson will serve as the Grand Marshal for the event.

2. Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical

For an entertaining family event, check out Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical. The show is located at the famous Grand Ole Opry House. If you have always wanted to see a show on the stage where every famous country musician has sung, this musical is a great choice for families who are in the area for Christmas. Your whole family can enjoy watching this classic holiday story come to life. Groupon currently has the tickets at a great deal with 30% off both balcony and orchestra section seating.

3. ICE! Featuring Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer at Gaylord Opryland Resort

Finally, Gaylord Opryland Resort is well worth visiting. With lush, rainforest-inspired surroundings, as soon as you step inside the resort you won’t feel as though you are in Nashville anymore. Not only does the resort have romantic, incredible lights and decor, but you can also see Ice! Featuring Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer while you are there. For a breathtaking experience, you can check out 2 million pounds of ice sculptures. Children will love trying out the four ice slides.

Any time of year, Nashville offers entertainment that makes it a fun vacation spot. During the holidays, many of the events are kid friendly. If you are looking for a fabulous holiday vacation, check out Nashville for your winter getaway.
