If you’re looking for fine dining in Howard County, Maryland, Alexandra’s American Fusion is well worth the visit. For a special anniversary treat, I spent a day at Turf Valley Resort where I first enjoyed the spa (which you can read about here), and then spent the evening enjoying the delicious food at Alexandra’s Restaurant. Although there are many spectacular restaurants in the area, the quality of the food and the serene view truly helped set this restaurant apart from the others.
Alexandra’s American Fusion Restaurant
Whether you’re looking for steak or seafood, this restaurant has a nice range of food to please anyone in your party. Situated on the lower level of the Turf Valley Resort, the location is pleasant and secluded from the crowds you might find in busier areas of the county. While eating here, I discovered many reasons this restaurant is well worth visiting.
Exceptional Service
After being seated at a table with a window view, the server handed Ryan and me a note from Turf Valley congratulating us on our wedding anniversary. This small touch was the beginning of an evening of great service. Continuously, servers refilled the water, wiped away crumbs, and asked us if we needed anything else. The exceptional service helped make the meal a memorable experience.
Delicious, All-American Appetizers
First, we ordered appetizers. When the Beer Battered Onion Rings arrived, the gigantic size was almost as impressive as the delectable flavor. Both the crispy onion rings and the flavorful dipping sauces (Smoked Tomato Ketchup and Sriracha Remoulade) tasted spectacular.
Another appetizer was the Seafood Corndogs. This unique mixture of shrimp, scallop, and crab chorizo with a cornmeal batter and Old Bay Remoulade was perfect. The exterior had a nice crunch. When you bite into it, the flavor explodes in your mouth.
Memorable Main Courses
When the main courses arrived, they were visually stunning. The nicely cooked 12 oz. Strip Steak had a luscious, generous helping of butter on top. Each bite of steak was fantastic. Since the Chesapeake Mac is a house specialty, it is well worth ordering. Made with Old Bay, cheddar, bacon, crab, macaroni, and toasted breadcrumbs, the Chesapeake Mac has a rich, unique flavor.
If you’re visiting Maryland, I would highly recommend ordering a dish that contains crab because Maryland is known for its delectable jumbo lump crab.
Next, we ordered the Grilled Colorado Lamb. Visually, this dish was impressive, and it tasted delicious. The process of grilling the lamb chops gave them an incredible flavor. I loved how juicy and flavorful the lamb was. Pairing the lamb with the feta-spiked tzatziki sauce made this dish very memorable and worth returning to the restaurant to order again.
On the side, the vegetables brought a fresh flavor to the dish. A mixture of roasted tomatoes, Trinity fingerling potatoes, and Broccolini were the perfect side for a hot summer’s night.
Spectacular Desserts
For a rich, chocolatey dessert with a unique twist, order the Smore’s Cheesecake. With a graham cracker crust, chocolate cheesecake, smoked sea salt marshmallow brûlée and citrus caramel, this cheesecake has a delicious flavor that will leave you reminiscing about your summer camping trips. I liked the sweet flavor as well as the balance of textures.
Since August is National Peach Month, this is an excellent reason to order the Skillet Peach Cobbler. Fresh peaches add a delightful flavor. Paired with the cinnamon-buttermilk ice cream, the cobber is truly spectacular. As the ice cream mixes in with the cobbler, you get an incredibly nice tasting dessert.
A Picturesque View
One of the best parts of eating at Alexandra’s is the beautiful view. From my indoor table, I could see the firepit, the fountain, and the golf course. On such a gorgeous sunny day, the view was ideal.
You can find plenty of seating on the patio. With umbrella coverings at most tables, you can keep cool even during the summer heat. Overlooking the pretty garden, you can dine as you spot butterflies. Being able to take in the tranquil surroundings makes dining here a unique experience.
After eating, you can stroll around the grounds of the resort if you’ve dressed for a walk. From beautiful weeping willows to the swans by the fountain, there’s plenty to see. You can even go on a nature walk near the parking lot for a more outdoorsy experience.
This was an absolutely special anniversary experience, from our couple’s spa day in the morning to our incredible meal in the evening. I hope to visit Alexandra’s Restaurant at Turf Valley Resort again in the future, as it’s certainly a new local favorite.

OMG that steak looks delish! I am a sucker for a good steak dinner and that looks like one I would love, love, love! You are lucky you were able to have this experience for your anniversary. Congrats! <3
There are few things in this life I enjoy more than onion rings!
Any restaurant that serves a “grown-up” Mac and Cheese is a must in my book.
