When you’re a family of four with only one television, choosing the right cable service is important. Whether dad wants to watch football or the kids insist on cartoons, you’ve got to figure out a way to keep the entire family happy. Recently, my family switched to Comcast XFINITY. While the television, internet, and phone bundle is similar to what you could get from most cable companies, the Comcast apps make the cable service unique.

TV For Everyone With The Comcast Apps

As a family who is always on the go, we loved discovering how useful the Comcast apps would be during our travels. For everyday use, the apps are a great way to turn any device into a TV screen. Now, no one has to give up their favorite TV show. Check out these three ways that the apps help the whole family find television shows that they can enjoy.

1.) Watch Live TV With The XFINITY TV App

Have you ever been excited to watch your favorite television show live, but your stubborn toddler has other plans? With the XFINITY TV app, you can stream your television shows live from any device, as long as you’re a Comcast subscriber.

I tested the app out with a live football game. After I put the channel on the television, I pulled up the app on my tablet. The game appeared to be running only one minute behind on the app, which was pretty good.

When someone in the family wants to watch something different on the television, you can watch an entirely different show on the tablet. With the app, you don’t have to give up your favorite show or have it ruined with spoilers before you watch the recording. Live stream from anywhere, even a hotel room. As long as you have WiFi at your location, you can pull up a live TV show.

2. Watch DVR Recordings Anywhere, Even Without WiFi

Sometimes, a live show is so exciting that you insist on watching it on the main television. If your kids aren’t excited about the show you’re watching, you show them a DVR recording of their favorite cartoon or movie.

Last week, when Ryan and I watched the Ravens game, the girls were thrilled to watch their favorite Disney cartoons with the Comcast apps. Turning the tablet into a television worked well. The kids were happy, and the adults were too. One of the best parts was that since we watched the game at someone else’s house, the kids could still watch shows that we had recorded, even when we weren’t hooked up to the WiFi.

3. Watch On Demand Shows With The XFINITY TV Go App

If you have WiFi connection, you can get a broader selection of shows on the Comcast app. Watch a wide variety of On Demand shows using the XFINITY TV Go app.

My kids love being able to pull up their favorite cartoons anytime they want. I like that they can independently choose the show they want to watch. Since the interface of the app is easy to use, turning a cartoon on with the app is easier than using two remote controls to turn on the TV and sound system. When the kids wake up too early on the weekend, it’s nice that they can keep themselves entertained.

I liked using the XFINITY TV Go app too. When I got behind a few episodes of the Bachelorette, pulling the show up on the tablet was simple to do. My show didn’t bother anyone since it wasn’t on the large, main television screen.

Overall, using the Comcast apps was a great experience. When you’re on the go, being able to access the apps can make life simpler. Entertain your kids with their favorite shows, whether you’re at a hotel or a restaurant. Wherever you are, you can take your favorite shows with you.

I received a free mini Samsung Galaxy tablet, but this in no way influenced my opinion!

I recently cut the cord, but before I did, I had an app for my television provider and it was nice to have TV on the go in multiple places. I actually still have that now with my online services I use. Thank goodness! 🙂

We have Comcast and I never even thought about downloading an app for it! What a stress saver! Now the boys can watch football downstairs and I can catch up on my shows on my tablet! Cool beans!

We stopped our cable service about 8 years ago so I didn’t even know this was a thing. I have to say that I LOVE our iPads for travel and watching streaming content though, so I can see this would be a great benefit if you have kids!

I love the DVR part of Comcast! We’ve had it for a while and thats the one thing I don’t think we could live without. We don’t even watch a lot of TV, but when we do I love having things recorded and ready to watch!

I love this review! We haven’t had cable for a while now, but there have been many times that I miss HGTV and other channels. Knowing you can watch them on an app and that my daughter could do the same just might influence us to change things up again! Thanks for sharing!!!
