When St. Patrick’s Day falls on a weekend, you have more time to dress in green and eat festive food! Without much planning, your St. Patrick’s Day celebration can be a simple family event. Today on Theresa’s Reviews, you can check out what we did to celebrate this year.
Our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Weekend
We started out the afternoon by creating Pots of Gold for a lunchtime dessert! This was simple to make because we had some leftover Popcorn Bird Nest Easter Treats. We took out the Easter egg candies and replaced them with edible tiny gold coins!
Here’s a quick recap of the recipe. Follow my directions for making the popcorn birds nest, but instead of putting in the Easter egg candy, add a small layer of chocolate sauce. Then, top with the Wilton Gold Cake Sequin Sprinkles.
These sprinkles are useful to have in your kitchen cupboard! I also used them as cupcake toppers at our Academy Awards Family Party, so they have multiple uses.
My children enjoyed eating these delicious and festive Pots of Gold popcorn desserts. Not only were these treats easy to make, but they also helped our weekend become a celebration!
Next my children decided to make a leprechaun trap. This was simple to create. They took an old cake box from our simple 5th birthday party and decorated it. With a ladder and exciting dance party signs on the outside, the trap had glue on the inside to try to trap him. While the leprechaun never got stuck in the trap, he did leave some coins!
Dining At Hudson Coastal
Another enjoyable part of our St. Patrick’s Day weekend was going out to eat in Fulton, an area that looks very up and coming for young families. Although we haven’t been to Fulton before, the drive was well worth it. We adored the area! To enjoy the outing with us, we brought the children’s grandma to eat at Hudson Coastal Raw Bar & Grille with us.
The inside of the restaurant looked modern and reminded me of visiting the beach. Even though we couldn’t make it out to the Eastern Shore for the weekend, it was almost like being there! With beach-inspired decor, the fresh seafood reminded us of our last beach vacation. I’m going to share all our seafood in another article so you can see our entire meal.
For a festive dessert, we enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day Mint Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding, which was topped with three scoops of delicious ice cream. This was the perfect way to end our St. Patrick’s Day celebration weekend!
Driving The 2018 Mazda CX-5
To get around this weekend, I drove the 2018 Mazda CX-5. Whether we were driving to get dinner as a family or going to shoot a toy bow and arrow in the park for some mom and me time, this compact sports utility vehicle worked well for every occasion. My children enjoyed having control over the air in the back. With the weather going from springtime warmth to snow, the heated rear seats and heated steering wheels were nice to have.
With the beautiful Soul Red Crystal Metallic Paint, this car looks fantastic, and it’s got good safety features too. I thought the anchors were very easy to use when I installed my car seat. Some other helpful safety features were the lane departure warning and dynamic stability control. When my children’s school had an early dismissal due to snow and ice, I was confident that our ride home would go well.
For incredible audio, the car has a Bose® 10 speaker audio system. This made every car ride more enjoyable! You can also connect your phone via Bluetooth so the audio system reads your emails or text messages aloud when you’re driving for a safer driving experience.
