American Girl Writing & Acting Virtual 5-Day Camp – Spring & Early Summer Classes Now Available

American Girl fans from across the country – or even across the world – can come together in a fun, interactive, and creative 5-day class!

Join me to make new friends, practice scriptwriting strategies to create a story for your doll, and film your own commercial, movie trailer, or short film! You have the option to have the dolls on camera or to become the doll and act out the scenes yourself.

Some students enjoy using stop motion and green screen. I support students in learning those techniques, while also providing a simple, all-in-one-place technology for filmmaking with Flipgrid. You also receive access to my exclusive video tutorials.

Day 1 through Day 3, the focus is on creating a script that has a plot structure, theme, sensory details, and voice.

Day 4, students write a shot list or story board. I also make sure all technology questions are answered.

Final videos are submitted to Flipgrid before Day 5, which is when students celebrate their creations with a fun premiere party! Invite your family to watch, bring popcorn, and enjoy watching your own video premiere for our class.

About Me

I’m your teacher, Mrs. Pickett! I collaborate with the American Girl company as a blogger and YouTuber. It’s led to a doll collection with almost 20 dolls!

I majored in history at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. I have a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Vanderbilt. I’m a certified teacher in ESOL, Elementary Education, and Middle Grades Social Studies.

Before teaching, I was an actress in commercials, and I was an actress, producer, casting director, and publicist in movies. Today, I continue to collaborate with movie studios to promote movies.

As a writer, I’ve written over 1000 articles online and in magazines. One of my most exciting writing experiences was being flown to Los Angeles the cover the red carpet premiere of Disney’s ‘Coco,’ and interviewing all the creators, filmmakers, and actors.

I have two young daughters who are huge American Girl fans and collectors. One of them even has her own American Girl stop motion YouTube channel with her friend.

With 5-star reviews, my classes are selling out fast. To meet this high demand, I am making more sessions, but make sure to sign up quickly to get a spot!
