Are you looking for a math program to support your child in growing as a mathematician? If so, you are in the right place! Recently, IXL released a series of math workbooks for offline practice. The workbooks are really fun and vibrant, and they are a great way for students to bolster their understanding of key math concepts.
There are basic math facts practice sheets to help your children become more fluent in math. We use these for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as the concepts come up in school.
Even though we own flashcards, and we use games for practice, it’s nice to have one location for practicing concepts. Having all of it in one place helps my children keep up with studying. They can be forgetful about needing to study if they don’t have a set routine, and this helps them build their stamina in practicing each week.
In addition to fact sheets, the workbooks go through strategies for understanding why each type of calculation works. With basic multiplication facts, you can find arrays to help visualize it, which becomes helpful to understand when you get into 2-digit multiplication.
The addition and subtraction workbook also shows models so you can see how regrouping works and count out the jumps on a numberline. This aligns really well with the work my children bring home from school, so they can be more confident as they learn challenging concepts in their classroom.
IXL will also be releasing “combo” workbooks in early 2020, which include multiple topics for each grade level.
