My family and I are excited about the release of Walt Disney Studios Moana on November 23rd! With beautiful oceans and an adventurous heroine, the movie looks awesome. We always head out over Thanksgiving weekend to see a movie together, and this will be an excellent movie.
Walt Disney Studios’ Moana
With this movie, kids see can learn about the culture and background of the Samoan islands through a fictional movie.
Background of The Movie
Did you know that filmmakers auditioned hundreds of women throughout the Pacific Islands to find just the right voice for Moana? Native Hawaiian Auli‘i Cravalho didn’t originally go after the role, but when a casting director remembered her in a singing video audition for a previous role, it was serendipity that it worked out for her! Check out the fun trailer.
The Plot
As teenager Moana sails into the open sea to save her people, she meets the demigod Maui (whose voice is Duane Johnson). With the guidance of Maui, Moana heads out on a voyage where she encounters terrifying monsters and more.
Through this voyage, Moana learns much more than just how to fulfill the ancient quest that her ancestors have passed on to her. The movie shows a journey of self-discovery, as Moana learns who she truly is.
Disney movies are always really good, and this one looks incredible. I can’t wait to show my kids!

For Thanksgiving dinner, I usually visit with family. Football plays in the background and sometimes, the kids don’t know what to do. Bringing printable coloring sheets is a good way to make sure that the kids are happily occupied.
