Theresa’s Reviews 2017 Christmas Gift Guide For Children
To find the best children’s Christmas gift ideas for 2017, I tried out products for the past year. Some are exciting, and some are practical. My children have tested out the products and gave their feedback to help me find gifts that children will enjoy.
Piper Computer
First, if you’re looking for a STEM gift, the Piper Computer will help children develop problem solving skills and fine motor skills, while also having fun and playing a a game. Since this product is a mixture of an educational learning experience and a video game, it’s an exciting way to get children involved in engineering.
Even if it’s the first time for your child to build a complex device, it’s easier than it sounds. Along with all the parts, you get a blueprint to help you find out where everything goes. Parents can help some, which offers great quality time together.
After you build the computer, the on-screen directions make it simple to set up the electrical wiring. As you set up each wire, your character in the game develops a new way to move. With the goal of beating the game, children are encouraged to problem solve even though difficult scenarios.
If your children want a computer or a new gaming device, the Piper Computer is a neat way to give them technology, while also having them learn a new skill.
Pulse Performance Children’s Electric Motorcycle
Next, check out electric motorcycles. These are a fun toy for children who seek adventures. The Pulse Performance children’s electric motorcycle goes up to 10 mph and works well both in the grass and on the sidewalk. It comes in both blue and pink.
Check out the video review my daughter did for this children’s electric motorcycle.
The motorcycle is re-chargeable and makes riding around the neighborhood exciting. It’s a great way to get children outside playing more often. We liked that it rides very smoothly and that the charge lasts for a while.
Pulse SafeStart Transform
For my younger daughter, we tried out the Pulse SafeStart Transform. It comes in blue, and is easy for younger children to use. The Transform is more advanced than the scooter she was using last year. It goes a bit faster and has some different speed settings for her to try.
She really enjoys riding this scooter around on the sidewalk. Her sister rides the motorcycle, and they play outside together. The break system is easy to figure out, and it’s a fun riding experience. Both of them have a great time using these toys together.
Mindware Gift Ideas
There are many neat gift ideas from Mindware! Some of my favorite include Dig It Up! Discoveries Fairies, Aqua Maze Marble Run, and the Paint Your Own Mosaic Orb. These are all great hands-on toys that make learning fun. Whether your child enjoys science or art, there are many options that would appeal to all children.
Mindware Playful Chef Collection
One big new product announcement for this year was the Playful Chef collection. These are great for children of different ages and are made with safe cooking in mind. We have the Deluxe Baking Kit, Deluxe Cooking Kit, Chef Knife Set, and Deluxe Apron.
Check out this tutorial The Sammie and Georgie Show made to show how to make vanilla bundt cake with the Baking Kit and Cooking Kit!
We also have the Playful Chef Chocolate Studio and Chocolate Shoppe. With this kit, you can make all kind of delicious, chocolatey treats. Cooking and baking together is a holiday tradition that makes the whole family happy. With our usual cooking, the children enjoy measuring and cracking eggs, but these Playful Chef sets help children become much more involved in the process of making food.
American Girl Dolls
One classic gift for young girls is an American Girl doll. Each year, the company releases new dolls, and this past year, they released Tenney (with accessories) and Nanea. Check out the video below to see why my daughters love these dolls.
Tenney is a Nashville singer who enjoys performing for others. Her guitar is a must-have accessory! Also, Nanea a Hawaiian girl living after WWII. She has beautiful hazel eyes, and you can also buy her hula outfit separately.
Aurora World Plush Toys
For simple, adorable gifts, check out the large variety of plush toys from Aurora World. The quality is always good. With soft, cuddly fur and bodies, the toys also have very sweet faces.
Out of all of their items, I chose the 9” Happy the Husky, 9” Snowy the Fox, Sugar Plum Snowball – Jingle Bell, Sugar Plum Snowball – Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas, Sea Sparkle Neva, Sea Sparkle Angeligue, 14” Elk, 14” Deer, 8” Snow leopard, 8” Wolf, Sunny Owl 9”, Tum Tum Penguin with Sound 9”, Pamee Princess Mermaid, and Pamee Pirate Mermaid.
Since my children love animals, these are all great picks for them. Whether you want a festive reindeer, snowball mini-plush, or an adorable wolf or mermaid, there’s something for everyone.
Tsukihoshi Shoes And Boots
Shoes are a nice, practical gift idea. Choose a unique pair. From Tsukihoshi, the Waterproof Frost winter boots in Ice/Pink have fun coloring with shiny silver, sparkly blue, and pink accents. These shoes are perfect for a snow day outside.
Also, the Star shoes in Silver/Pink are a new shoe arrival worth checking out for Christmas 2017. The shoes have silver coloring and blue-purple on the side with star accents. They are lightweight, but come up over the ankle some so you could also wear them on a cold day.
My daughters loved being surprised with these shoes. Since these shoes have such a cool style, they make a nice surprise for Christmas. They’re unlike most pairs of shoes that I’ve seen.
When my daughters saw how neat the new shoes were, they were inspired to create a short play about the cold weather. Check it out below! They had a lot of fun making it.
Quarto Books
If you’re looking for some quality children’s books for Christmas gift ideas, I have several suggestions! From Quarto Books publishers, you can find interesting and unique books that children will enjoy.
If you’re looking for a gift for a child who enjoys traveling and geography, check out 50 Cities of the USA by Gabrielle Balkan. Each page has vibrant colors and interesting facts that would appeal to different ages.
One festive book is All Aboard The Discovery Express by Emily Hawkins, Tom Adams and Tom Clohosy Cole. The book has flaps and mysteries to solve. Children will enjoy finding the clues to track down the missing scientist.
Another festive choice is Christmas Paper Play by Lydia Crook. It’s filled with paper crafts for children to make. Each page has a new decoration idea for your home!
Children will also enjoy Ultimate Slime by Alyssa Jagan. It has over 100 different DIY tutorials for making slime! All of the recipes are completely borax free. You can make crunchy slime, fluffy slime, fishbowl slime, and more. My children can’t wait to make a winter-inspired slime soon!
Finally, The Nutcracker by Jessica Courtney-Tickle is one of my favorite holiday story books. One each page, you can press the note to hear Tchaikovsky’s music. It’s a very nice way to combine a classic story with the beautiful sounds of the ballet. Children will love hearing the story of Clara and her magical Christmas adventure with this festive book.
