12 Best Local Maryland Dishes

Homemade Belgian Waffle with Ice Cream at Dumser’s Dairyland – This indulgent dish satisfies your sweet tooth and makes your vacation to the Eastern Shore extra special. We ate here before a rainy day at the beach. Even though we couldn’t do much swimming, this meal made our vacation memorable.

The Woodbine Platter at the Town Grill at Foster’s Country Store – Enjoy a hearty meal with eggs, gravy and scrapple (a classic Mid-Atlantic breakfast meat) while overlooking the picturesque farm land.

Crab Cakes at G & M Restaurant & Lounge – These massive jumbo lump crab cakes are full of jumbo lump crab meat and have little extra filling. Maryland is known for its Chesapeake blue crab, and these are the best crab cakes you can find.

Cherrywood Smoked Angus with a side of Waffle Fries at Abbey’s Burger Bistro – Enjoy a hearty, traditional burger with a fantastic spicy flavor from the jalapeño. Although the restaurant is known for its unique offerings (bison, shrimp, and duck burgers are some of the menu items), I preferred this classic one.

Crab Cake Sandwich at Alexandra’s American Fusion – Overlooking the relaxing view of the Turf Valley Golf Resort, you can get a fantastic jumbo lump crab cake sandwich. With real Maryland blue crab meat and little filling, it’s a delicious lunch item.

Shrimp and Mussels Pasta at Amiccis – If you’re looking for an authentic Italian restaurant, visit Little Italy in Baltimore. Order this delicious seafood dish and savor the moment.

Pappardelle Bolognese at Facci Ristorante – With egg pasta that is made in-house daily, this dish is the best bolognese I’ve had in Maryland. The soft noodles are covered in a house-made creamy sauce and topped with fresh parmesan. You can also get an incredible wood fired pizza here.

Danish Barbeque Pork Ribs at Stanford Grill – Whether you eat the ribs at the restaurant or take them to go (as we did recently from the Super Bowl menu), they are consistently delicious. Since the ribs are smoked for 10 hours and finished on the grill the next day, they have a fantastic flavor.

Fries at Thrasher’s Fries – Steaming hot fries topped with vinegar is a classic choice for anyone visiting the Ocean City boardwalk. Eat them while looking out at the beautiful ocean view and the fun children’s rides.

Pulled Pork Sandwich at Boog’s BBQ – Available both at Camden Yards where the Orioles play and at the Ocean City boardwalk, this filling sandwich hits the spot when you’re enjoying a busy day out at the beach or a baseball game. Since I’m from Tennessee, it’s hard to find good BBQ in Maryland, but this is one I’d recommend.

Deadliest Steam Pot at Ropewalk Restaurant – With half a pound of snow crab, jumbo shrimp, and more, this dish offers an excellent variety and has plenty to share.

Bushel of Steamed Crabs from J & T Seafood – You can’t get a more authentic crab experience than ordering a bushel of crabs. Grab a mallet and make sure you know how to shuck them first. Lay newspaper down, and enjoy an all day gathering with your family and friends.

There is something about classic food from Maryland. The pictures make me extremely hungry, and kick off a craving. You had to do a lot of eating to gather these incredible shots. The crab cakes look so good, and then we come to Thrashers. I feel jealous of all of the seagulls that get to have them everyday at the Ocean City boardwalk!

I love the seafood linguine at AIDA Bistro and Wine Bar in Columbia. It’s my go-to, favorite pasta dish! It comes with a creamy tarragon sauce that compliments the seafood so well. And the pasta is fresh and made in-house, so it has that fantastic bite to it!
