I hope you enjoyed my last post, 4 Kid-Friendly Places in Downtown Nashville, with some of my favorite tourist spots to visit with kids! Nashville is made up of many neighborhoods, and it is fun to explore different areas while you’re in town. To show a couple spots away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, today you can check out some more places you can visit while you are in town with the kids.

Visiting Nashville with Kids

Usually when you see the Nashville skyline on television or in movies, the view of downtown is the most recognizable. As someone raised in and around Nashville, I know that most people who live here actually spend very little time in the downtown area. There are many more places to visit!

Green Hills

If shopping is your favorite pastime, you should visit the Green Hills area. There are a lot of small boutiques you can visit, including shops along Bandywood Drive near the YMCA. You can also park next to Whole Foods to explore Anthropologie, boutiques for men and women, and some children’s shops. This area, which is known as The Hill Center at Green Hills, also has plenty of places to eat.

To get out of the summer heat, visit the indoor mall. The mall has two stories, and it is very simple to navigate.

The Green Hills Mall is a nice recreational place for kids because they can toss coins in the large fountain and enjoy the small food court. You can also visit many upscale children’s clothing shops. Some places to take the kids include Fuzziwig’s Candy Shop, Gap Kids, Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, and Nordstrom.

While your kids enjoy the simple pleasures of a free balloon at Nordstrom and tossing coins in the fountain, you can discover a multitude of nice shops. Check out the Lucky Brand shop, Free People, Jimmy Choo, Gus Mayer, Eileen Fisher, Burberry, and Banana Republic.

As a side note, every blogger seems to have recently covered the Nordstrom annual sale, but I loved the 60% off sale items at Banana Republic. This was the perfect opportunity to stock up on work clothes before the summer ends.

Music Row

Another place to visit is Music Row, where you can see all the places where music is recorded, published, and produced. Driving by Sony and BMI is a neat experience and is educational for kids interested in the music business.

When you get to the end of Music Row, there’s a delicious pizza place called Desano Pizza. This restaurant offers a unique opportunity to watch the pizza cook on the wood-burning ovens. For seating, there is an open, cafeteria style arrangement with long tables.

As I recently shared on my Instagram page, you can sometimes even get extra dough for the kids to play with while the pizza cooks. It’s really fun for the kids to pretend that they’re chefs, and this keeps them busy.

Desano’s is especially known for the San Gennaro pizza, which is made with a delicious, somewhat sweet San Marzano tomato sauce that contrast the spiciness of the peppadew sweet peppers, sausage, garlic, and caramelized onions. Topped with smoked cheese, mozzarella, and pecorino romano, the taste is delicious.

While the pepperoni tastes incredible, it doesn’t look like your average pepperoni pizza, and for that reason, my kids were hesitant at first to try it. After convincing them to try one slice, they hungrily ate a second slice too. The slices of pepperoni are lightly flavorful, and the cheese is delicious. One of the best parts is the amazing crust that you just can’t help but eat.

There are several vegetarian options on the menu too. You can find delicious salads, cheesy calzones, and and a variety of pizzas.

From shopping to eating, the city of Nashville has plenty to offer families! You don’t have to visit the busy downtown area or major tourist attractions to get a lot out of your experience here.
