If you caught my latest article on the Huffington Post, What To Do When Your Child Has A Meltdown At Walt Disney World, you may be wondering whether you should visit Disney World with young kids. With all of the incredible moments that the Magic Kingdom has to offer, the experience of showing your kids the magic of Disney is well worth it.
Magical Moments At Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom
On two specific occasions, I realized how incredible it was to be visiting the Magic Kingdom. One particularly magical moment was viewing the Main Street Electrical Parade from Cinderella’s castle in the last year that the parade will run. Another was when my daughters spent the day walking around the Magic Kingdom as princesses. Check out why these two moments showed us the magic of Disney World.
Watching The Main Street Electrical Parade
Since 2016 is the last year that the Main Street Electrical Parade will happen, I hoped to catch a glimpse of it during my visit, but with many plans for the night, I wasn’t sure whether the evening would lead me in that direction. As the sky darkened, we walked briskly towards Cinderella’s castle for a coveted dinner reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Suddenly, getting to Cinderella’s castle became more and more difficult, and we weren’t sure if we would make it there for our reservation. As we watched streets get blocked off one by one, we were running low on time. Finally, I went up to an attendant who was guarding one of the blocked off streets. Luckily, she let us through when she heard we had a rapidly approaching reservation.
When we checked in at Cinderella’s Royal Table, the hostess asked that we please wait at the front of the castle and to come back when it was our time to enter the restaurant. With a mixture of luck and magic, we ended up having a perfect view of the Electrical Parade from the front steps of Cinderella’s castle!
On October 6, 2016, the Electrical Parade will come to an end. It was serendipitous that I ended up not only getting a great view of the parade, but also watching from one of the most magical spots in the Magic Kingdom.
From Cinderella’s castle, the view of the Electrical Parade was beautiful. With a clear view, we could see all the floats going by, and we were happy to be away from the crowds. Everything worked out in the best possible way.
When Two Princesses Visited Cinderella’s Castle
Another magical moment was when my daughters visited Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which I mentioned in my recent article 5 Tips To Make The Most Of The Magic Kingdom.
On the same day of our late night reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table, we arrived at the Magic Kingdom early in the morning before the park opened. By calling the day before, I luckily secured a last minute timeslot for both of my girls to get their hair, makeup, and nails done at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Cinderella’s castle.
At Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, each girl got personal attention from a fairy godmother who helped transform them into princesses. The fairy godmothers were excellent at taking their time and making sure that the parents as well as the kids liked the result.
While visiting the hair salon was incredibly exciting for my girls, the fun continued after we left. Everyone we passed paused and exclaimed, “Hello, princess!” or “What beautiful princesses!”
Even other kids would come up and ask, “What’s your princess name?”
I loved that the princess transformation enhanced the entire experience of visiting the Magic Kingdom.
Having a morning appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was the perfect way to get my daughters excited for their surprise visit to Cinderella’s restaurant later in the evening.
Visiting Cinderella’s Royal Table while dressed up as princesses was an incredibly special memory for my girls. The outfits and hairdos made meeting all the princesses who visited the table super fun and exciting.
In another twist of fate, we happened to secure reservations in the exact time slot when you can see the fireworks out the window. This made our dining experience even more magical!
In my next article, I’ll be sharing more details about three different character dining experiences, which were all incredibly magical! When you’re a guest at the Magic Kingdom, you can find magic in the smallest, most unplanned and exciting moments. Have you had a magical moment at the Magic Kingdom? Share in the comments!
