One of my all time favorite children’s books was A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle. During my childhood, I read it over and over again, about a dozen times. I was captivated by the time travel theme and the story of a young girl using science to search for her father across the universe. Now, as Disney releases its brand new trailer for the 2018 A Wrinkle In Time movie, it has all the characteristics I would hope to see in the screen adaptation of the book, and I anticipate that the full movie will as well.
Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time Trailer
One of my favorite parts of the brand new A Wrinkle In Time trailer is the captivating visuals. To show travel across the universe, the filmmakers really had to capture the essence of the book, and so far, their attempt in doing so looks successful. Check out the trailer to see for yourself.
One reason I predict this movie will be a success is the incredible acting talent. In A Wrinkle In Time, you can see Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bellamy Young, Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey, Levi Miller, and Zach Galifianakis. Meg Murray is played by Storm Reid. The trailer also shows the fantasy, space-inspired costumes and makeup that will make this an interesting movie to watch.
The movie was filmed in Los Angeles and other cities in California as well as in New Zealand. It was directed by Ava DuVernay.
The Book A Wrinkle In Time
If you haven’t read the book, I highly suggest reading it first. One of my favorite memories of reading as a child was delving into the world of Meg Murray in her search for her father among the stars and the planets. I look forward to sharing the book with my children before we watch the movie. Also, if you enjoy the book A Wrinkle In Time, you should check out the sequels by Madeline L’Engle, which include A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Many Waters and An Acceptable Time.

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.
Meg Murry
Meg Murry is a typical middle school student struggling with issues of self-worth who just wants to fit in. The daughter of two world-renowned physicists, she is intelligent and uniquely gifted, as is Meg’s younger brother, Charles Wallace, but she has yet to realize it for herself. Complicating matters is the mysterious disappearance of Mr. Murry, which has left Meg devastated and her mother broken-hearted. Charles Wallace introduces Meg and her fellow classmate Calvin to three celestial beings (Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who) who have journeyed to Earth to help search for their father, and together they embark on their formidable quest.
Time Travel
Travelling via a wrinkling of time and space known as tessering, they are transported to worlds beyond their imagination where they must confront a powerful evil force.
