If you’re preparing to have your first child, setting up your baby registry is important to do. Many products new mothers register for sound interesting but are not essential. You should register for items you need and include big ticket, high quality items on your registry as well as less expensive items. On your baby shower, friends and family will show their generosity, and they appreciate knowing what you would like.
10 Must Have Baby Products
As a mom of two children under age seven, I picked out ten items that I wish I had registered for when I had my first. You can buy all of these items from Baby Cubby, an online and retail company that price matches to offer you the best deals on the safest products.
Recommended By An Experienced Mother
- BOB 2016 Revolution Flex Jogging Stroller – Buy a high quality stroller that will last. Even though the BOB strollers are heavier than some other models, they are perfect for the light to moderate exercise you should get after having a baby. When you are inside with a baby all day and night, getting outside offers excellent stress relief.
- Britax Boulevard ClickTight Car Seat – Safety is so important when you have a newborn! Not only does Britax offer comfortable seats for children, but the company also takes safety very seriously. With the ClickTight technology, your child is safely secured.
- Ergobaby Organic Collection Carrier – When you want to go out for the day, a high quality carrier can be the best way to walk with your infant. Rather than figuring out a complicated wrap, stick with a simple carrier. With organic fabric, this item will feel soft to help keep your baby comfortable.
- Petunia Pickle Bottom Downtown Tote – While diaper bags are necessities, choosing the right one can be difficult. For a practical and stylish choice, buy a neutral tote bag. Since the colors are classic, this item will look nice long after your children are done wearing diapers.
- Aden + Anais Bamboo Dream Blanket In Moonlight – Since babies always need an extra layer, a nice blanket is good for any weather. The Dream Blanket is incredibly soft, and it’s big enough that your child can keep it for years to come. We have two of these blankets, and we adore them!
Less Expensive Items
- Mary Meyer FabFuzz Scooter Pup -You should have a range of prices in the items on your baby registry. For a less expensive item, the FabFuzz collection is soft and delightful. This plush stuffed dog is a nice small size and is comfortable to cuddle.
- BabyLit Primer Book Secret Garden – From publisher Gibbs Smith, the Baby Lit collection is adorable. One thing I noticed at my baby shower was that friends wanted to buy me baby books, but they didn’t know a lot about how to pick out high quality children’s literature. Show your child your your favorite books, such as The Secret Garden, with durable board books that will last.
- BabyLit Wizard of Oz – Another delightful book from the series is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. With beautiful, bright colors and fun characters, your child will be attracted to the pages of the book.
- Boon Scrub Bottle Brush – Give yourself a break from time to time, and ask someone else to feed the baby while you rest. With a good quality bottle brush, you can double check that your child is drinking from a sanitized bottle.
- Avent Pacifier Freeflow – Pacifiers are always good to have. Since they always seem to get dirty at the most inconvenient times, it is useful to have a few extra in your bag.
What Makes Baby Cubby Different
Baby Cubby isn’t just another baby store. They’re so much more, and whether you engage with the company on their website, on Facebook, or on the Cubby Community Blog, you’ll find a difference that they’re not just there to sell stuff, but to be an excellent resource for parents everywhere.
For every parent who has ever felt discouraged or overwhelmed about being a parent (and who hasn’t?), the Baby Cubby team offers support from parents who have been there before, know how much of a struggle it can be, and are passionate about showing parents how critical their role is.
This happens when the Baby Cubby team finds the safest baby gear and provide a fun shopping experience. Since they spend hundreds of hours researching the best items, you can shop with confidence. Another perk is that you can get free shipping nationwide with orders over $49, and you can price match to get the best deals.

I received a free item, but it in no way influenced my opinion!
The Ergo carrier is the #1 thing on my list
Great tips! I loved my ErgoBaby, it was a lifesaver with baby #2!
I love Baby Lit books! And my kiddo has only used Avent pacifiers, they’re the best.
The baby bag is cute. Looks like a bag you could even wear on a regular day. Cute ideas.
I LOVE that Downtown tote! Back in the day, all the diaper bags screamed NEW MOM, NEW MOM. I would so rather have had something stylish like that.
Those pacifiers look cool, I need to check those out!
Great list! I would also add a humidifier. It comes in handy when your child is sick.
The baby bag is super cute! Love that you could use it for other things too!
Love that list. Sigh… I’m into toddler life till Teen Life.. Oh I miss all the sweet baby things! BUT I live by my running stroller it’s my BFF and favorite way to get and about w/my youngest.
Great list! I defo couldn’t live without some of those! Want to try that stroller!
oh wow i wish there were registrys like this when mine were little. some great ideas on the list. Love the tote!
I totally agree about finding a nice stroller that will last! We bought our first stroller used and with our second coming along I did a lot more research. Our new stroller will last is through all our kids!
When I was first pregnant – I had zero idea what to register for. Your list matches what I would do now that I’m in the know.
It sounds like a great store. Even though we’re mostly passed the baby stage, I still would love those books. I also love Petunia Pickle Bottom.
We use many of these products! We love our BOB, and now we have a double BOB, too! One thing I would suggest to new parents is to not buy pacifiers until after Baby is born. Some babies don’t take pacifiers, and sometimes they’ll only take a certain brand. My son will only take MAM pacifiers. I had to throw out several that we tried and he wouldn’t use!
Baby carriers are so important! I wasn’t into the big strollers because they’re hard to navigate doorways and fit into cars. Perfect if you’re just taking a walk, though.
We stuck with Advent pacifiers but I had no clue about the free flow ones. That is great. Very nice products within this post.
Baby carrier is a must for our family as well. I have never heard of Baby Cubby but they sound like a wonderful resource for new moms.
I definitely think donations to a big present like the pram are the way to go rather than buying clothes and toys. I got bought so many newborn clothes most of them never got worn!
That diaper bag is so cute. Great list!
I love baby lit books and the baby carriers. Carriers are such a Gid sent especially during the colicky days!
I loved my Ergo! I had a couple different carriers but I always seemed to go straight to the Ergo (unless it was crazy hot outside, then I used my ring sling!) To each their own when it comes to carriers though. There are so many different options!
