Back to school shopping requires some essential items. As a certified teacher and a mom of two kids, I realize how hectic this time of year can be. To make the back to school time more convenient, I came up with a list of several items your kids might need. With my kids, I tried out snacks, a book and doll set, a new pillow, and a backpack. While shopping, you should check out these items to help your kids start the new year the right way.

Welch’s Fruit and Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks

Every lunchtime meal needs a sidekick. To make mornings easier, I pack Welch’s snacks in my kids’ lunchboxes. With small snack pouches filled with tasty treats, your kids get some of the vitamins they need without all the excessive calories. Convenient packaging is a huge pro for parents. The best part is that my kids enjoy the snacks too.

My older daughter was excited about the taste of the blueberry Fruit ‘n Yogurt snacks. She asked whether we could make our own snacks by rolling fresh blueberries in yogurt and freezing them. Creating homemade treats is fun and rewarding during the summer, but in the fall, there won’t be as much time to be creative with our snacks. Luckily, Welch’s snacks provide a great taste with the convenience that makes them just right for a back to school snack.

Viki’s Granola

Start the school day off right. With Viki’s granola, your kids get natural ingredients that are good for them. The granola tastes a lot healthier than sugary cereal, which my kids always crave. Yogurt and granola is a great way to appeal to kids. I usually top it off with some fresh berries to get some antioxidants.

I received two large, 12 ounce containers of banana walnut granola and apple cinnamon granola. My kids were impressed with the taste. They loved the chewy parts in the apple cinnamon granola. When I needed a midday snack to help pick me up, I grabbed the maple cranberry granola, which came in a convenient 1.5 ounce container. The taste was delicious! Mixed with yogurt, the food gave me the nutrients I needed to help me have way more energy. Granola is a great way to give mom some of the additional fuel she needs to get through the day during the school year too.

As the school year starts, I’m making a resolution to get my kids on the right track with their food choices. Granola is healthy, but my kids don’t even realize because it tastes so good. I’m so happy that with this new granola, my kids won’t complain about me switching out sugary cereal for something new.

Teeth Fairies Personalized Book and Doll Set

New school years bring new milestones. Buy items that can help memorialize special moments. With Teeth Fairies, you can show your child how special a loose tooth is. Whether your child is losing her first tooth or her tenth tooth, the Teeth Fairies set has everything a parent needs to start a fun, heartfelt tradition in the family. The set comes with a tooth fairy doll and a book.

The tooth fairy doll has a very endearing look. She has a sweet smile and wide open, loving eyes. On her crown is an adorable, smiling tooth. Because the doll is a moderate size, she is small enough to hide after your child’s tooth falls out because she only comes out when a tooth is loose. The doll is also big enough for hugs so she can provide comfort during an uncomfortable time. Back to School Shopping Ideas - Theresa's Reviews - www.theresasreviews.com

With the doll comes a neat book that tells the story of the tooth fairy. The illustrations match the look of the doll really well. From the pigtails to the sweet smile, the character looks almost identical to the doll. Since I studied children’s literature in graduate school, I learned how important illustrations are in children’s books. The pictures were fun, colorful and fascinating to my kids.Back to School Shopping Ideas - Theresa's Reviews - www.theresasreviews.com

My daughter hasn’t yet lost her first tooth, but when she does soon, I’ll be prepared to introduce this set. I’m excited to start a new tradition that both of my kids can enjoy in the years to come.

Hydraluxe Cooling Gel Pillow from Comfort Revolution

Buy a Hydraluxe cooling gel pillow to help your kids get some good rest. Since school brings a lot of pressure to succeed, staying well rested matters even more during the school year. With a new pillow, your kids can get the rest they need, which can help prevent test anxiety. Better rest makes kids healthier and can lead to them having more energy.

I tried the pillow out for a couple weeks, and I thought the item was great. The pillow provided the right amount of support, while also having excellent comfort. One major advantage was that the cooling gel had slight ridges so it was easy to tell which side would be cool.

Wildkin Pink Giraffe Bogo Backpack

Since my daughter will start kindergarten this fall, shopping for the right backpack is essential. With the Wildkin Pink Giraffe BOGO backpack, I got two items in one. The backpack has a front pouch that works as an insulated lunch box. One reason I picked the item was because it was the right size for a kindergartener, but I thought the lunch box was a great added bonus.

Regarding the size, the backpack was just the right size for my daughter. The item wasn’t overly bulky. Inside, there was plenty of room for a book, a folder, and some pencils. Back to School Shopping Ideas - Theresa's Reviews - www.theresasreviews.com

Inside the front pouch, you can fit your child’s lunch. With the straps on the side, you can take the lunch box off to store it in the refrigerator as needed. The lunch box has plenty of space and could easily fit a Bento box. Since my daughter will be facing her first year in an all day school program, streamlining the process of carrying items to and from school will be a great help.

My kids just got out of school last week, so I don’t have to worry about back-to-school shopping for months. Good ideas for September, though.

Wow, last week? So late! I know some districts start back August 1st, so that would leave about a month to get a good shopping list together.

Wow – I can’t believe it’s already time to start thinking about Back to School shopping! These are some great ideas here though – especially that cute backpack. Do you know if it comes in a blue option for boys?

These are great ideas. I don’t have to worry much about back to school shopping except for clothes. The school provides all the materials that the twins will be needing for school.

The teeth fairies set looks great. My 5 year old has just lost her 4th tooth already and number 5 is not far behind. Her teeth came in super fast and they seem to be falling out just as quickly. Cute backpack too.

Like Robin in Mass, the kids here in RI just finished school. That’s what a ton of snow days will do! Great list, love the backpack, so cute!

Viki’s granola sounds like it would be a good choice as a breakfast cereal when I wake up really hungry and start to grab for cookies. I know I’m bad!

Oh! That cooling pillow looks really awesome! Since we moved and don’t have AC it gets hot at night – this might be the perfect solution.

Oh my son loves those yogurt covered snacks, I give them to him in his lunchbox for pre-school. That rucksack is lovely, big enough to fit all school supplies too 🙂

Those are all great ideas. I love the pillow. I’m a serial pillow flipper and even use my air conditioner most of the winter because I can’t sleep when it’s warm.

The pink bag would be perfect for girls during school days. The granolas and fruit snacks can also give them instant healthy snacks they can bring to school.

These are some great back to school shopping ideas! Both my sister and I are older/graduated college years ago but my mom is a junior high teacher so we all go back to school shopping each year with her and help her pick out supplies for her classroom <3
