One of the most challenging and most rewarding parts of spring break is keeping the children busy. Whether we go on a nature hike, drive into Baltimore, or visit the movies, heading out for the day not only entertains the children, but also satisfies my desire for traveling. Because I’ve only lived in the area for a few years, visiting local places has allowed me to check many experiences off my bucket list. Since my ideal day means waking up, eating quickly, and heading out for an all day adventure, today on Theresa’s Reviews I’m sharing three tips for busy moms who are always on the go.
3 Tips To Help Busy Moms On The Go
Schedule your day ahead of time
Whether you are planning a big adventure or a small outing, having a plan helps tremendously. Check your schedule for any conflicts, and make sure you know what time you should be at any appointments and birthday parties. Busy moms always have somewhere to be.
Then, when you know your day is free, check that the weather supports your itinerary. Change your plan as needed. Although it can be disappointing to cancel an outing due to rain, you can still head out to an indoor location.
If you are stopping at multiple destinations, decide where to start. You can estimate how long you can spend at each location before you leave home. I used this tip when I took a recent mom and daughter trip to the Inner Harbor. We knew we were going to start our day at Port Discovery, but we also wanted to see the Aquarium and the Historic Ships of Baltimore. Knowing that I had roughly six hours to accomplish everything helped me gain some perspective about how quickly we needed to move through each location.
Enlist the help of your children
Children can be the best helpers. If you have an older child, ask for help teaching your younger child what to do. From holding hands at busy intersections and tying shoes, every bit of help you get matters when you are trying to get your children from place to place. Ask your children to pack the things they need, including granola bars and water bottles. This can also free up time for you to make sure you are prepared to leave.
Instead of pushing your children to go on an adventure when they’re tired – and risking a total meltdown – take cues from your children. Asking them where they want to go (or if they want to spend a day at home) can empower them. Listen to their ideas. When children are excited about the destination, they will move faster and help you with your outing.
Pack your bag with the essentials
For busy moms who are always on the go, your bag should have everything you need for the day. From small handbags to weekender totes, I own bags of all sizes and shapes to make sure I can always travel prepared. For day trips, I like bringing a small backpack. Not only is my backpack the perfect size for hikes and more, but it also comes in a beautiful bright color for spring.
Inside my bag, I like to pack snacks for everyone. Bring a variety. One of my children likes fruit strips, and the other likes granola bars. These snacks can tide us over for much of our day out exploring! You can also bring a water bottle, and leave it in the car to quench thirst on the way home.
Salad Power Drinks Can Energize Busy Moms
Since my children can live on snacks for hours, I like to pack something for myself too. When you’re always going from place to place, it can be easy to forget about yourself. On a long day out, staying healthy matters. To make sure that I have a nutritious snack to fuel myself for our outing, I bring a Salad Power drink.
When we go on a fun family outing, packing one of these veggie drinks gives me the strength to get through whatever challenges we encounter! After all, moms help set the mood for the outing, and you don’t have time to be grumpy, tired, or hungry! Plus, when I live on coffee to get through the day, it’s terrible for my skin.
On all of my recent outings, I tossed a Salad Power drink in my bag. From hiking to hunting for Easter eggs, having a quick snack nearby reminds me to take care of myself, and not always to prioritize everyone else. Check out this information from the company!
SaladPower was started by two NYC high school friends who wanted a juice that was lower in sugar and calories and didn’t cost them $15/bottle. They noticed most other juices were packed with fruits and had very little veggie nutrition in them, so they started SaladPower, which always puts veggies first in all their flavors. That means all their flavors are packed with nutrients and have less calories and sugar than the other guys!
From Spring Break To Your Normal Routine, A Nutritious Snack Can Power You To Make The Most Of All Your Endeavors
With Salad Power, I get the vitamins and superfoods I need. Although you can find some tasty juices in the supermarket, they don’t usually come in such convenient containers, and they often have a very high amount of fruits in the ingredients. With this veggie-based drink, I feel completely re-charged and ready for a busy day.
When spring break is over and it’s time to return to a regular schedule, Salad Power is the ideal beverage to have with your snack or lunch. If you’re rushing from work to the children’s school, then to help with homework and do activities, getting a healthy snack in matters. With this drink, you get kale, carrot, spinach, celery, cucumber, tomato and bell pepper. Plus, it’s easier and less time consuming than making your own veggie shake.
Even though the beverage doesn’t have the sweeteners many juices have, it tastes delicious! My personal favorite was the Veggies + Pineapple blend because it had a pleasant, citrusy taste. If you want to be really focused on cutting out sugar, you can also try the Just Veggies flavor. Not only do the juices give you the energy you need, but they also taste pleasant, and you’ll want another one before long!

Great simple tips. I get so much more done when I schedule my day!
Great tips! Seems like the theme here is to prepare which is so important. The day will go much smoother.
Packing essentials is a top priority for me. How many times have you had the “I’m hungry” meltdown? I would love to try the pineapple/veggie flavor!
Awesome tips! I’ve never heard of Salad Power drinks before. I used to drink a lot of the Naked juices, so I’ll have to check these out!
I need to empower my children more often AND I need to empower myself with that Veggies + Pineapple Salad Power! Sounds yummy!
I will totally have to look for this next time I’m at the store. I’m always on the look out for something good to drink, especially after a workout. I don’t have kids, but when I take my nieces and nephews out I plan for everything!
Great tips for an outing with kids. BTW I love it when kids are dressed in the same outfit. I need to find that Salad Power what a healthy drink.
I’ve never heard of Salad Power before but I’d try it! My oldest loves to help out around the house. Making a list is also something I try to do so I stay on top of things and organized.
Great to plan ahead for trips with kids. Those drinks sound perfect for increasing my veggies. I have been slacking lately.
I am terrible and getting my veggies in and although I love V8, most “healthy” juices are indeed too full of sugar. I am definitely looking into SaladPower!
i love the idea of getting your kids to help out. totally stealing that one! and Salad Power sounds awesome!
These are awesome tips! Having the kids help out really is a great way to calm the crazy. That Salad Power sounds great! I will have to check it out!
Wow, you really have me interested in the vegetable drink. At 50 calories, why not? I could have one of these any time of the day!
This is such an unique way to get in your greens!
I plan on telling my husband about this product; he is a big-time protein/meat eater.
Also, this would be a good supplement for those on the Paleo Diet.
I love getting the kids to help idea! I am so busy all the time now they love helping, and I find when I ask for help they love it even more!
The Salad Power with the veggies + pineapple sounds like something I would enjoy. This line of drinks has really caught my eye.
When children are of age to help , you definitely need to get them to. It can be such an amazing way to ease some burden on you.
These are some great tips! It makes sense to use your older children to help, and of course it is great to plan ahead. That drink sounds very healthy, I would be interested to see how it tastes!
I’m with you, I have an itinerary for us when we are traveling. My kids do not like to be bored when traveling. Unless we are at a all-inclusive and on the beach, then we just tend to wing it daily.
We have a routine in place for things the kids have to do in order for us to even leave (turn the lights/tv off, lock the front door, put the dogs downstairs, etc.). I am always grabbing a drink for myself because after I have wrangled the 2 of them to get out the door, I need something! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for salad power!!
Nothing is worse than being out on a fun day (or at work!!) and having the hunger attack. Planning ahead is definitely the key — great tips!
Thats so cool!! I really like that they have a pineapple flavor. I like being able to get my fruits and veggies in a drink.
I grab a V8 when I don’t feel like I’m getting my daily allotment of veggies in. I’ll have to give this a try!
You are so right! Finding ways to healthy on the go can be a challenge and this sounds like a great drink! Even more so, I love that you say “enlist your children”. Absolutely agree! xo, Jessica
It’s really important that we have a plan. It’s also nice to follow a schedule if you really have tons to do in a day or week. These are great tips!
I love V8, I wonder if this will taste similar–I am addicted to the salty sensation. Looks like something this busy mom needs to try.
I’m new to this brand but the drinks look delicious. I definitely need to ask my oldest daughter to help more during our day to day activities.
Those salad on the go drinks look so interesting. I usually make myself a smoothing in the morning at home but I’m always looking to try on-the-go version that have lots of good ingredients.
Great tips – and not just for busy mums but for everyone – without lists, preparing ahead of time and healthy on the go food/drinks I’d be completely lost! I always pick up a drink like this when I’m travelling because they just give you so much energy compared to pop! x
Great tips! Really important to be prepared ahead of time and teach the kids to help as much as possible.
