With July being National Ice Cream Month, today Theresa’s Reviews is sharing a story about visiting Rocky Point Creamery as a reminder of the benefits of shopping for ice cream at your local dairy farm.

Visiting Rocky Point Creamery

Located in southern Frederick County, Rocky Point Creamery is one of only nine creameries in the state of Maryland. If you’re spending the day visiting different Franklin County farms (and there are many to visit), check out some reasons why Rocky Point Creamery is worth the visit as well as some tips for visiting.

Dairy Products Made From The Local Dairy Cows

One of the best parts of visiting is driving through the beautiful farm land of Frederick County. With dairy cows raised just a small distance away from the ice cream store, you get a unique experience of seeing where your dairy products come from, and you can support the local business.

Outdoor Seating Is Popular

When you arrive, you can see many chairs where you can eat your ice cream outside. My children adored the plastic cow seats in front of the building. Although the dairy cows at the farm are too far away to visit, the decor is very festive for a creamery.

Since it was hot outside, we chose to sit at tables inside, but the outdoor seats were popular with many visitors. You can also find the fun plastic cows inside the store.

Fresh Dairy Products Are Sold Inside

Inside Rocky Point Creamery, you can buy products made at the farm. Whether you want milk, ice cream pies, or cheese, you can find many local goods to bring home and eat later.

Since the farm raises beef cattle as well as dairy cattle, you can buy Angus Cross Beef meat products too. The beef is 100% natural and has no antibiotics or hormones.

Delicious Ice Cream With A Variety Of Flavors

Whether you are getting a scoop of ice cream or a milkshake, the menu at Rocky Point Creamery will not disappoint. Over a dozen flavors are available.

When I ate a small cup of the blackberry ice cream, I was impressed with how fresh and delicious it tasted!

My daughter preferred the mint cone that she ordered. Although she said mine tasted too much like blackberries, she ate every last bite of her mint cone!

Tractor-Inspired Playground Brings Many To Play

When I visited, I shared the experience with a live video on Facebook. Below, you can check out the video that features the unique tractor-inspired playground.

Although the playground was empty when we arrived, it quickly had half a dozen children running and playing on it. Since most ice cream shops don’t have a playground, this feature sets Rocky Point Creamery apart from other places to get ice cream in the area.

One of the most fun parts of the playground is that children can climb to the top and pretend to drive the tractor. For children who don’t usually spend time at a farm, this experience is especially enjoyable.

You can also slide down from the top on a couple different slides. With all of the different features, the playground has plenty of space even when it gets busy.

Many Opportunities For Photos

Next to the large playground is a small wooden tractor with a slide. This space is ideal for the youngest visitors. You can take adorable pictures of your children at the front of the tractor. With the rustic background of the farm fields, this place offers excellent opportunities for summer photos.

Sunflower Fields

Next to the playground, you can spot sunflowers beginning to bloom. This year, the sunflowers will not be in full bloom until the end of August or beginning of September. You can buy them usually for about $1 a stem, and the proceeds go towards St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

When the sunflowers are ready for visitors to pick them, Rocky Point Creamery will be on my list of places to return. From the ice cream to the beautiful farm fields, there are many reasons to visit.
