Do your children love reading, and they can never seem to have enough books? If so, you are in the right place! One solution is to create a book swap meetup where children can swap books they already read with gently used books that their friends have. This idea can help you save space in your homes, it can help your children have access to more books, and it makes reading a social activity that friends can share. Read and Own High Quality Children’s Books

First, owning high quality children’s books worth swapping is the start to being ready for a book swap. Recently, my family and I were packing our house to move. As I stacked box after box full of children’s books, it finally hit me how many books I have bought my children! They love reading! As a certified teacher, I know that having access to great books in the house matters.

One way to get more books without spending extra money is to buy Eggo waffles during the promotional window. You can scan your receipt in when you sign up for the Feeding Reading program and get one FREE Penguin Random House book for each box! Visit the Kellogg’s Family Rewards site for full promotional details.

When I used the Feeding Reading program, my daughter had so much fun picking out a book and seeing it arrive in the mail. We are excited to participate again, and we have already earned 9 credits towards 9 books!

Plus, Eggo waffles are the perfect back to school snack because they are easy to eat on the go. With ingredients that include frozen blueberry and nutri-grain, they are wholesome and filling. You can also use them as an indulgent dessert with ice cream for special occasions! How to Start a Book Swap for Children - Theresa's Reviews

Kellogg wants to get more books in the hands of more children to build confident readers and start the day good with a Kellogg’s breakfast. Redeeming the purchase is easy on FeedingReading.com! Buy any participating Eggo products by 9/30/19. Take a picture of your receipt with qualifying purchases. Log in to Kellogg’s Family Rewards® and upload your receipt. Each receipt must be submitted separately and within 30 days of purchase.

Then, get credit to redeem for a Penguin Random House book of your choice to keep or donate. Credits must be redeemed by 12/1/19. Limit of 10 books per participant.

Even though our house has perhaps too many books, my children can never have enough of reading new stories. A book swap is a great solution when you have both an abundance of books and children who have an unending desire to read.

Set up a Local Meetup Group

Next, set up a local meetup group for your book swap. There are two main ways to do this. First, you could set up a group within your children’s school as part of a club or organization. If you are willing to organize it and you have some volunteers, present the idea to the principal. Students could donate their gently used books. They could earn one ticket for every book donated, which they then could use to get another book.

Another idea is to start a local group on social media for swapping children’s books. Your group could meet up once every two weeks to swap books. Children could also discuss the books, so it would work as a book club as well as a book swap.

Get the Word Out

After organizing your book swap, get the word out to other parents. If the book swap is part of a school organization, send flyers home with students, ask the PTA to put it in their newsletter, and have the principal include it in the daily announcements.

If your book swap is part of a local group on social media, start by inviting your friends who have children the same age as yours. Have your children let their friends know too. Get the word out further by sharing in a local parenting group.

Interested in growing your social media group even more into an online network for readers? You could have live read alouds in the group and encourage members to share book reviews!
