Now that the long winter is over (whew!), it’s the right time to start cleaning out winter items and replacing old things. Redo your look with a fresh, vibrant style. Spring shopping can help spruce up your home and wardrobe to help  you gain a happier, more carefree attitude as you greet the warmer weather. To find great shopping strategies, I asked fashion experts to share some of their best tips for shopping this season. Follow some advice to find trendy items and score good deals.

Shopping Tips Worth Following

1. Shop at the Right Time

Shop sales on Memorial Day when you can find deals on spring designs and swimsuits. Timing your purchases right can save some major money. “Expect storewide savings of up to 50% off,” says Kendal Perez, expert for coupon website Coupon Sherpa, who recommends also coming to the store with coupons to get an even bigger discount.

You can also get great deals on the Fourth of July and in the August during the back-to-school season. Just remember to buy items at the right time. “Avoid buying denim until after the back-to-school surge, as leftover inventory and overstock will drive retailers to offer discounts on jeans,” says Perez. Time your purchases to get the best deals but only buy things you really want. If you shop for great deals without keeping an eye on quality, you might end up with a closet full of things to clear out again next spring.

2.) Add Color with Shoes and Accessories

Spring is a great time to revamp your wardrobe, but when you’re working on a budget, you can start small to make a big difference. Colorful shoes and accessories instantly make an outfit more vibrant and fun. Whether you’re heading to the beach for a weekend vacation or simply trying to spruce up your work attire, try the Alfonso Large Red Weekender Bag by Luca Chiara. Show that you’re truly a trendsetter, as you bypass the pastels that everyone else has and sport a bright, red hue.

Another neat accessories line to check out is Parsonii, who specializes in interchangeable watches. You can change up the look of your watch whenever you want. Choose the more colorful shades to compliment the colors in the rest of your outfit. The olive, merlot and cobalt colors add just the right amount of color to any neutral colored outfit, while they could also compliment a shirt of the same color.

3.) Shop at Boutiques

Boutiques can help shoppers find new, trendy brands, while also offering deals that you might not see on their website. “In Denver there are some great boutiques that often have great prices, sales, and unique items you cannot find elsewhere,” says Nina Parr, who owns a clothing company Sheify that celebrates startup women. Simply driving in front of a boutique can give you an idea about whether they are holding sales. Frequently, boutiques will put a rack of clothes on the sidewalk with a discount sign to tell shoppers that there’s a deal happening.

 4.) Get Social

Shopping online can have major benefits since you can instantly compare prices. Take online shopping one step further to score great deals. “Like a store’s FB business page or follow them on twitter for special savings,” says NYC-based image consultant and style expert Carol Davidson, owner of Style Works of Union Square. Companies often post promo codes or coupons exclusively to their social media followers to help promote their company’s reach online. Take advantage of these deals by checking your social media feed once or twice a day for updates from your favorite companies.

5.) Sign up for Mailing Lists

Mailing lists are another spot to check for discounts. Marissa Stempien, fashion editor of JustLuxe, says that mailing lists “almost always offer a discount or free shipping for signing up, even if you aren’t a first-time customer.” Create an email address just for receiving promotional emails. Having a separate email address can help you avoid receiving unwanted spam to your regular email address. When you are about to make a purchase, use the search bar on your email to locate the company’s latest newsletters, which often have promo codes.
