Raya and the Last Dragon Interview with the Filmmakers! & Giveaway

If you are looking for a meaningful story of adventure with a strong female lead, ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ is the film for you. Recently, Enjoying Family Life sent two kid reporters from The Sammie and Georgie Show to attend an exclusive virtual roundtable interview with director Carlos López Estrada, producer Osnat Shurer, head of story Fawn Veerasunthorn, writer and director Don Hall, writer Adele Lim, and writer Qui Nguyen. Today, we’re sharing about that experience, and we have a giveaway opportunity for you to get a free digital code to watch the movie.

While getting to know the creative minds behind the film, they shared about the theme of unity. One quote in particular that I found relevant was, “Trust can put the world back together.” For a children’s fantasy adventure movie, it has a deep and valuable concept to contemplate.

We also learned about the cultural elements, such as inspirations from Indonesia, included in the film. Writer Adele Lim spoke mostly about it. She wrote ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and grew up in Malaysia.

Sammie and Georgie were excited to get the chance to ask a question that they came up with themselves. They asked where did the dragons come from in Raya’s world? Was there a backstory of how they got there?

The answer was pretty simple. The dragons were always there, and a long time ago, something bad happened, and they sacrificed themselves. It’s as though it takes place in our world, and the dragons were once there.
