Theresa’s Reviews Piper Computer Kit Review And Giveaway
With the Piper Computer Kit, children put together their own computer using materials and a blueprint. When you assemble the computer, you can play games on it. Not only are the games fun, but they also help you build the controller so your character can turn and go forward in the game.
Piper Computer Kit Review
When the Piper Computer Kit arrives, it has many different parts, a Top Secret letter, and a Blueprint. You use the blueprint to design the computer. This part can be tricky for children under age 10.
At times, putting the computer together using only the blueprint was difficult. We didn’t do any online research on how to assemble it, and we were able to have it assembled after two days of working on it.
When you get the game up and running, you should check for any updates. Recently, Piper released the PiperCODE update. It is a free update that you can download from the Piper Computer Kit home screen, and the new kits have the upgrade already integrated.
It offers text-based and visual programming languages and is powered by a customized version of Google’s open source programming language, Blockly.
The game begins to give you challenges. In order to complete the challenges, you have to be able to move your character. Your character will only move in the correct direction if you connect the wires to the computer the right way.
One of my favorite things about the Piper Computer Kit is that the fun doesn’t end after you build the computer. My daughter is excited to own her own computer, and she enjoys taking it out to play. Unlike so many other toys that get stuffed in a toy box, this kit comes out again and again.
I like that the kit requires children to actively use technology. Instead of passively staring at a computer screen, children are actively involved in solving problems and designing a working computer.
To celebrate Hour of Code week, Piper is offering a savings directly from their website. The kit is available for only $209 (regularly $299), and you can get a free one year Piper protection plan (regularly $45).
