If you’ve been following along on my Twitter and Facebook, you may have noticed me sharing a daily post about the Traffic Secrets 30-Day Challenge. This challenge is based on the book Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customerswhich shares tips for building traffic funnels. I didn’t understand traffic funnels very well before reading this book, but now I do.

I juggle reading a few books at a time. This one was a real page turner that made me put down the others!

By completing the 30-day challenge, you’ll learn key strategies to increase your site traffic.

Russell Brunson is a Best-Selling Author & CEO of $100M software company ClickFunnels. He has built a following of over a million entrepreneurs, sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books and popularized the concept of sales funnels. In 2014, Russell and partner Todd Dickerson launched ClickFunnels, which became the fastest-growing non-venture backed software company in the world.

One of the best parts about the book is that it comes with workbook components so you can interact with the material. As you write down what you notice and wonder about your audience, it helps build your brand and develop stronger content to reach more people and ultimately, make more sales.

Sharing my thoughts about the workbook components through daily posts on Twitter and Facebook has helped me hold myself more accountable for learning the material.

There has been a dedicated community to follow along with on social media using #TrafficSecrets. When I saw other bloggers’ thoughts on the same topics each day, this hashtag helped foster a neat virtual learning space.

The biggest problem that most entrepreneurs have isn’t creating an amazing product or service; it’s getting their future customers to discover that they even exist. Every year, tens of thousands of businesses start and fail because the entrepreneurs don’t understand this one essential skill: the art and science of getting consumers to find you.

This concept is true for content creators like me – and perhaps like you too – who are building a brand through social media and blogging. Creating a blog can be a missed opportunity to make money.

With website fees, the cost of cameras, video and editing equipment, professional learning courses, and decent clothes and pretty props for photos, blogging can create a loss if you aren’t careful.

Through reading this book, I realized that I’m missing out on opportunities to monetize the work I do. I love what I do. It’s from the comfort of my home and it involves making fun memories with my family. But that doesn’t mean I can live on what I’ve earned so far as a blogger.

In the time that I’ve blogged, I’ve given away articles, photos and videos for free. If you follow me, you know I don’t only share sponsored content.

I follow Russell Brunson’s method of sharing my true daily life. Sharing what really happens to me has helped me find my voice and hone my content creating skills.

This blog and its social media have shared my journey from years ago when I started out and was going through postpartum blues with two non-potty-trained children.

In joining groups, I  found a writing community that helped me connect with others and remember who I was outside of being a parent.

I had much to learn about writing, but I was okay with that. I kept sharing. I shared my life as I moved across the country, started a teaching career, and dealt with anxiety while trying to keep things together.

I shared how I tried to maintain the household life that I dreamed I would once have. Sometimes the smiles I was sponsored to share didn’t feel genuine in the moment because of a bad day or stressful situation, but it was part of the process of learning how to share my true voice. All the while, I was taking on way too much with too few rewards.

Blogging has its perks, like incredible press events, vacations, and celebrity encounters. But reading this book made me understand that I should share my own unique voice through more original, paid content that my audience returns to find more of through my email list. It’s smart to monetize ebooks, printables, and other exclusive content, but it takes confidence and knowledge of your audience. This book and its workbook activities fostered those skills in me.

Getting good ideas out there matters, but so does earning an income. I encourage you to think about this too if you’re thinking of starting a blog or social media presence.

In Traffic Secrets, entrepreneur Russell Brunson reveals the classic and foundational direct marketing techniques that will allow you to be at the front of new trends and see opportunities that are invisible to everyone else. Russell can share how to master evergreen traffic strategies in order to fill your website and funnels with your dream customers.
