When the weather in Maryland cools down in October after such an unbearably hot summer, it is the ideal time to get outside and enjoy the wonderful events offered in the area.

Clark’s Elioak Farm

Fall at Clark’s Elioak Farm is a great time of year! They are open daily thru November 3, 2019.

Everyday you can visit the friendly farm animals, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin, take a pony ride, a cow train ride and a ride on the Enchanted Express Train. You can explore all the Enchanted Forest attractions and the Enchanted Forest pennant maze and have fun with Spookley the Square Pumpkin’s scavenger hunt. Complete your visit by wandering thru the Fairy Forest and playing in the hay bale maze.

On weekends, the farm has even more going on, like special vendors provide gem mining and geode cracking, face painting by talented artists or taking a ride on Diablo, the mechanical bull.

Mary’s Land Farm

Check out the pumpkin patch at Mary’s Land Farm on Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm! Get a free hayride in a wagon and pick a pumpkin in the chemical free pumpkin patch!

There are other fun activities at the farm this fall, including:

Scarecrow Stuffing: Use their clothes or yours to make a scarecrow with hay.

Animal encounters with Chickens, Ducks, Horses, Cows, Sheeps and Pigs.

Mary’s Land Farm throws open the doors of its 160-acre estate for The Hive Vintage & Handmade Market this fall during Farm – City Week. Over 30 vetted vendors join Honeybee Home to create the design event of the season in the heart of Howard County. From antiques, to live music, to a pumpkin patch for the kids, this market has something for everyone.

 

Larriland Farm

Gaze across the fields dotted with thousands of orange pumpkins, each one waiting to become a jack-o-lantern for your porch. The farm is decorated for Halloween with ghosts and goblins to delight and scare you. The fields are laden with crisp, succulent vegetables. The orchards are bent down with apples. It’s the last harvest to reap before the cold winter sets in. And fall is the perfect time to enjoy a tall glass of freshly squeezed apple cider.

On Saturdays and Sundays in late September and October, they offer hayrides during the day (9:30am – 4:30pm) . This is a tractor drawn 20 minute wagon ride over the farm, ford a stream and through the woods which are decorated for Halloween. These hayrides are open to everyone. A fee per person is charged. No reservation is required. Wagons run continuously from 9:30am to 4:30pm Saturdays and Sundays.

The Straw Maze, built with large round bales of straw, is a delightful place to get lost. The Straw Maze is open every day the farm is open in late September and October. Fee charged. All day pass.

The Boo Barn is for children ages 4 – 6. It is a dark passage in the bottom of the Red Barn and is filled with animated, not too scary ghosts and goblins. The Boo Barn is open every day the farm is open in late September and October. Fee charged. All day pass.

Gaver Farm

Fall Fun Fest featuring 7-acre corn maze, farm animal barnyard, giant slides, jumping pillows, mini mazes, wooden play structures, corn bins, pedal kart, country cruisers. Over 60 awesome attractions! Admission $13.50 per person weekends, $9 per person weekdays, kids under 2 free (NEW). Season Pass $35 per person.

Farm Market, Hayrides to pick your own apples (weekends only) and pumpkins (daily). Visit the farm fresh food stands for food and drink including the famous cider donuts, cider slushies and delicious kettle corn!

Carroll County Farm Museum Fall Harvest Celebration

The Fall Harvest Celebration is on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is FREE! Event is rain or shine.

Howard County Conservancy

Fall Festival October 6 @ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

It’s harvest time, which is ideal for the annual, old fashioned Fall Festival at the Conservancy!  Watch blacksmiths hammering iron in their shop, listen to bluegrass music and explore the historic three-century-old farm.  Visit the pygmy goats, the chickens, Onyx the snake, and Ranger the barred owl, and many visiting farm animals. There are children’s crafts, pumpkin decorating and hayrides.  Browse the craftsmen’s stations to admire wool spinning, wood turning, gourd decorating, and more. Leap the hay bales. Stock up on grass-fed beef and pork and the finest fall vegetables and fruit at the farm stand.  Food and beverages will be available to purchase.

Please note that admission to the event is $10 per car.  Simply purchase upon arrival at the event. No advance registration needed.

Maple Lawn Fall Festival

Saturday, October 12, 2019 (Raindate October 13)

Join Maple Lawn on October 12, 2019 for the sixth annual Maple Lawn Autumn Harvest Music Festival, a celebration of music, food, and community!  The event is free and open to the public, folks of all ages. Live bands will be performing all day in the Maple Lawn Entertainment Pavilion. The Kids’ Zone will be host to pony rides, a moon bounce, games and more.

Arrive hungry and choose from a variety of food vendors with a local flavor. Check out vendors, artists and there will be plenty of activities for the family to enjoy.
