Today on Theresa’s Reviews, I’m sharing a healthy, festive banana kiwi matcha shamrock shake recipe for St. Patrick’s Day! With this recipe, you can make a naturally green drink that tastes good, and you will get a calm energy from the matcha powder too.

Banana Kiwi Matcha Shamrock Shake

When I was on FOX 45 this past summer (you can watch here and here), I shared some delicious recipes that you can make with Carrington Farms products. Since then, I’ve had fun coming up with recipes that use their organic, natural ingredients.

My favorite part is that my children have grown to love the taste of the healthy ingredients. They even request extra chia seeds in their smoothies now!

Festive, green St. Patrick’s Day recipes don’t have to be full of artificial coloring. With this recipe, you can make your drink look green with the Matcha powder and the sliced kiwis placed on top in the shape of a 4 leaf clover.

Banana Kiwi Matcha Shamrock Shake Recipe

This recipe serves 4 people.

Ingredients:

3 bananas

1 cup of yogurt

2 kiwis (and 1-2 more to slice for the top)

1/2 cup Ice

1 cup of organic milk

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of Splenda sugar/stevia blend

2 scoops of Carrington Farms organic coconut protein blend

2 tablespoons of Carrington Farms organic chia seeds

2-3 teaspoons of Carrington Farms Matcha tea powder

Directions:

Peel the bananas and add to the blender with the ice. Measure the milk, cinnamon, sugar/stevia blend, protein blend, chia seeds, yogurt and matcha powder. Place them in the blender. Cut the 2 kiwis in half, scoop out the inside and add it to the other ingredients.

Blend well.

Taste before serving, and adjust as needed.

Pour into cups. Add sliced kiwis on top in the shape of a four leaf clover. Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

  • We prefer the cream top whole milk yogurt from Brown Cow, but Greek Yogurt is a great way to get protein in your smoothie too.
  • The Nutri Ninja Auto IQ blender does a great job of blending for the right amount of time.
  • You can add more of the sugar/stevia blend to make it sweeter.
  • While the banana kiwi matcha shamrock shake is kid friendly, matcha powder is made from green tea leaves and does contain some caffeine. You may want to serve a smaller amount of matcha powder to your children if they’re drinking it too.
  • If you want it to look more green, you can add more Matcha tea powder, but that will make it have a higher amount of caffeine.
  • You could also add 3 drops of yellow food coloring and 3 drops of blue food coloring to get a festive green look, but if you want to keep the recipe natural, add spinach.

I drink matcha tea almost every day. I never thought about making a shake with it. This is such a great recipe and I already have all the ingredients.
