As Eastynn is preparing for college and looking forward to multiple projects, she generously offered a 10-question interview via e-mail.

Theresa Pickett (TP): Eastynn, you recently finished shooting Christian short movie So In Love. Tell us a little bit about the movie.

Eastynn Chadwick (EC): The movie is about a teenage girl who struggles with the decisions that come with a teenage pregnancy.

TP: Tell us about your character. Why did you choose to audition for this part?

EC: Sara is a teenage girl who falls in love for the first time and finds out she’s pregnant. The movie shows Sara’s fears and confusion that she goes through while trying to decide on what her decision will be and what she will do. I actually auditioned for another character, and they ended up offering me the lead, playing the role of Sara.

TP: Did you have a favorite scene?

EC: Yes, actually, my favorite scene was giving birth. It was definitely challenging, especially being a teenager and having to act out going through labor and giving birth.

TP: How did you prepare for your role?

EC: I actually didn’t have much time to prepare for the role. I was given the script four days before shooting, which turned out okay because I don’t like to over-think my work.

TP: What’s your favorite thing to do outside of acting?

EC: When I’m not driving from Mexico to L.A. for auditions, I really enjoy being with my friends and family. I love fashion, photography, watching movies and reading.

TP: Driving from Mexico to Los Angeles for auditions? Tell us more. You currently reside in Mexico? Do your parents work there?

EC: Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but this is one example of how dedicated we are to making my auditions. When I was two, my mom decided to move to Mexico to start her own clothing line. Everyone thought my mom was crazy, moving to a country where she didn’t even speak the language. My mom is a real risk taker and this is where I get my courage to go after what I want. I currently reside in Mexico; however, I will be moving to Orange County to attend Orange Coast College.

TP: As an actress, you’ve taken Spanish-language roles for commercials. Do you have a favorite song in Spanish?

EC: I listen to a wide genre of music in English and Spanish. If I had to pick a favorite song in Spanish, it would have to be a song called, “Tormenta de Arena” by a Spanish band called DORIAN, but one of my all-time favorites is a song I grew up listening to called, “Angel” by a Spanish singer named Belinda. This song was very important to me, because when I listened to it, I used to perform it and pretend I was Belinda, and in my mind, I was the real Belinda. Listening and dancing to her music is when I realized I wanted to be in the entertainment industry.

TP: Working and auditioning sounds very hectic for someone your age. How do you keep your work from interfering with your personal life? How do you stay on track with school?

EC: Driving from Mexico to LA is a long drive. It has given me some good mom and daughter time, that’s for sure. I’m a Libra, so I’m learning to become very good at having a good balance in all aspects of my life. As far as keeping up with school, I took the CHSPE test, so I am a high school graduate, starting college in January.

TP: You are currently working on four projects, including three short films and a webisode. As a young, up-and-coming actress, you are very lucky to have so much work! Tell us how your parents have supported this dream.

EC: I have been raised by my mom, a single parent, she has taught me to go after whatever it is I desire, that failing is not an option, and if I truly believe and live my life knowing that, I will achieve my goals.

TP: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

EC: I see myself continuing to work as an actor, taking on more challenging roles. I envision myself holding the Oscar giving my acceptance speech, imagining what the Oscar feels like in my hand and how much it will weigh.
